Warringah Rugby 1st Grade Debut, Rhett Butler
Rhett started playing rugby for Wahroonga Tigers at the age of 7. Since day one, he loved it and continued playing through the age groups up to under 16. During these years he also represented Gordon Juniors at Rep level. He went to Knox Grammar School and played in an unbeaten 1st Team in 2015. After leaving school he joined Warringah Rugby Club and played Colts for three years. His last year was Captain of Colts 1st Team, where he was named “Best and Fairest” at the end of the season.
Last weekend, he made his debut in 1st Grade against Penrith. Rhett’s preferred position is halfback but has played a few games on the wing.
Not only has he achieved on the sports field but throughout his school and university he excelled gaining a position in the Top 10 in the State for “Earth and Environmental Studies” in the HSC and awarded the Dean’s Merit Certificate for Top 1% at Macquarie University. He completed a double degree, majoring in Finance and Geology. He is currently employed in a Graduate role at Steadfast Insurance.
